Full Scholarship for Bonner Scholars – Earlham School of Religion

Attention all Bonners! The Earlham School of Religion has just announced a full-tuition scholarship specifically for graduates of Bonner Scholar and Bonner Leader programs. If you are interested in attending seminary, this school might be for you. Please see Earlham’s newsletter below:

The Earlham School of Religion [ESR] recently joined FAITH’s 2014 Class of Seminaries That Change the World. According to FAITH Director Wayne Meisel, an important qualification for this distinction is that the school evidence a “commitment to faithfully engage in the world” and to assist students in their pursuit of “a lifetime of service.”

While ESR already offers significant financial support through its need-based aid and scholarship programs, beginning in the 2014-2015 academic year ESR will seek to specifically support those who have been involved in service and who want to continue their engagement during seminary and beyond. ESR will offer a limited number of full-tuition scholarships to accepted, degree-seeking, residential student applicants within three years of graduating from a Bonner Scholar or Bonner Leader program at one of the over 80 participating colleges and universities. Both of these programs “support students to attend college and to be active and involved in community service while in school.” You can learn more about the Bonner Programs here:

Thanks to a partnership with Earlham College, scholarship recipients will work with the Bonner Scholars program on the college campus to help coordinate Bonner Scholar volunteer work and reflection. As the College states, “The Bonner Scholars program is designed to identify worthy and qualified students who need financial assistance, enable students to serve others, provide academic support and enrichment activities to students, and encourage students to earn their college degrees.” You can learn more about Earlham’s Bonner Scholars program here: https://www.earlham.edu/bonner-scholars/.

“ESR continues to promote a vision of ministry that connects calling with service. We are hopeful this scholarship will provide opportunities for selected students to continue the important formational work already begun in the Bonner Scholars program. We aspire to graduate individuals dedicated to meaningful engagement within their communities as they live out their passions and callings.” says ESR Dean Jay Marshall. “We believe this opportunity is another step toward that goal.”

The scholarships for Bonner students are part of ESR’s newly-launched Leadership and Service Program, which also awards full-tuition scholarships to recent graduates of Quaker College Leadership programs and Faith-Based Voluntary Service programs.
