The Campus Kitchen at Washington and Lee (CKWL)is a part of the Campus Kitchens Project Network, harnessing student volunteerism to empower the next generation of leaders to implement innovative models for combating hunger, developing food systems and helping communities help themselves. CKWL is hiring an Outreach Coordinator through the Shepherd Program’s Americorps *VISTA project to serve for a one year term beginning in May 2014. Responsibilities will include a general assessment around the need and capacity for a mobile food pantry, recruiting and training of a community leadership team, design of resources and promotional material around hunger outreach and creation of a structure for volunteer/donor management. The ideal applicant has good communication skills, ability to serve alongside college students, familiarity with the Rockbridge area, a working knowledge of Microsoft office, a driver’s license and the ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
