SML Good Neighbors Summer Camp

SML Good Neighbors offers a 10 week, summer internship working with children who are rising 1st through 6th graders in a summer enrichment program. The children are from families with limited resources. Interns lead the program with the support and assistance of the Program Director, the Camp Director and dozens of volunteers. Lodging and meals are provided as well as a $2,000 stipend. The program is located in the Smith Mountain Lake community near Moneta, Virginia. We have positions for nine (9) interns. Interns live together in provided housing and one of our primary objectives is to provide a vocational exploration experience for the interns. Both male and female applicants are sought. The interns provide very powerful role-models for the children we serve.

See our website: for more information about the program and the internship. Internship applications are on the website.

You can also communicate directly with Lisa Lietz, Program Director or Russell Baskett, President and Executive Director, if you need assistance or have questions: email – or phone 540-585-4912

A Note from the President and Executive Director:SML Good Neighbors, Inc. is beginning its 7th year of Summer Enrichment Programs for young children from families with limited incomes in our rural Virginia communities. And, as in the past years, our college interns are the primary teachers, mentors, counselors and role-models for the children. We have always appreciated your assistance in recruitment of our interns. Providing this leadership development experience for college students is a central part of our mission.
