Over the River and Through the Woods to Machu Picchu We Go!

On May 25th, we packed our weekend bags, hiking boots, and our charged cameras for a weekend at Machu Picchu. We spent Friday night in Cusco at Ecopackers, a hostel located near the main square. We were able to plan our weekend with Alejandra (a fellow UR spider) and four other students from her ProWorld program. Alejandra met us for dinner in Cusco Friday night. Early Saturday morning, we began our Machu Picchu adventure with the 3½ hour train ride to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. Once we arrived and checked into Hotel Viajeros, our lodging for the night, we explored for a bit. We saw the hot springs for which Aguas Calientes is best known.
