Research and Policy in Global Health, 4/17 (E)

Dr. Gillian Buckley (WC’98) will present her dissertation research on cognitive and motor skill development in school-aged children in rural Nepal, including how she adapted psychological tests for use in Nepal and the process of doing field research there. Predictors of children’s cognitive and motor abilities will be discussed. Gillian will describe the path that took her from a B.A. in psychology and English at Richmond to the Peace Corps in Nepal and a PhD in public health and nutrition at Johns Hopkins. She will conclude with her current work as program officer at the National Academies in Washington, D.C. Join us for her talk on “Research and Policy in Global Health: A Path from Psychology and the Peace Corps.”
